through Verizon FiOSTM, the
latest national distributor to
ink a multi-year carriage
agreement with RFD-TV.
Verizon FiOSTM (stands for Fiber Optic
Service and pronounced Fi - ous) is the
100% fiber-optic network owned by
Verizon Communications Inc., a leader in
delivering broadband and other
wireline and wireless communication
innovations to mass market, business,
government, and wholesale customers.
FiOS TV has an extensive channel lineup
with more than 400 of the most popular
digital cable television channels and + local
and national HDTV channels, as well as
exciting features such as a dual-tuner
Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and 10,000
On Demand titles at any given time, with
more channels and services being added all
the time.
RFD-TV will be on channel 247 on
all Verizon Systems
Service highlights include:
More than 400 all-digital channels grouped by genres
such as entertainment, sports, news, shopping, movies
and family, making it easy for audiences to find their
favorite programming.
An increasing number of high-definition channels, with
extraordinary clarity and theater-quality sound. By the
end of 2008, Verizon plans to feature most available highdefinition
channels.
An industry-leading library of more than 10,000 videoon-
demand titles each month, 70 percent of which
are free.
An easy-to-use interactive media guide that integrates
high-definition programming, video-on-demand content
and an optional digital video recorder along with
broadcast television into a seamless user experience.
Set-top boxes ranging from a standard-definition box to
the Home Media DVR, featuring a multi-room DVR that
enables up to three simultaneous viewings of recorded
programs without requiring customers to set up a complex
home network or buy extra equipment; the recorder is
bundled with Media Manager, a feature that lets customers
easily access photos and music from their personal
computer and play them on their entertainment center
where they look and sound the best.
FiOS TVWidgets, which offers one-touch, on-demand
access to local weather and traffic information shown on
customers’ TV screens.
Parental controls that allow customers to block programs
by channel, rating or category, create a personal ID
number to purchase pay-per-view or video-on-demand
programs, and eliminate adult video-on-demand programs
from listings.
In addition,
customers may
bundle their
Internet and phone
service through
Verizon. Availability is
based on one’s service
address and zip code, and not
on phone service.
Currently, FiOS TV distribution is
concentrated in and/or around mostly
major urban and suburban areas of the
United States including Baltimore, Boston,
Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, Tampa,
andWashington D.C., just to name a few,
with the state of Florida leading the way
with over 800,000 subscribers.
FortWayne, Indiana was the first area of
the country that began receiving RFD-TV
through FiOS TV with a June 30 launch.
The rollout of RFD-TV will continue and
expand into over 1,800 present Verizon
FiOS franchise cities and towns
throughout the summer/fall. Service is
coming soon to Idaho, Nevada, Arizona,
Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan,
Ohio,West Virginia, North
Carolina, South Carolina,
Vermont, Maine, and
elsewhere.
