Due
to popular demand and your continued terrific support of RFD-TV The
Magazine, programming on this rural television network takes a huge leap
forward beginning the first week in May. Please read this explanation
carefully, and be sure to check and review the new 24-hour Program Grid in
the center of this issue of The Magazine, as this change will effect the repeat
times, and number of airings, for many of your favorite shows during the
week.
Briefly - Two (2) hours of new programming is added to each weekday
schedule, Monday through Friday. This will take our previous 6-hour
schedule, and change this to an 8-hour wheel of programming each day. In
a 24-hour period, individual shows that aired 4 times, will now air 3 times to
make room for this new programming. The advantage – you may now watch
RFD-TV from 6am to 10pm (eastern) time each weekday without seeing a
single repeat. That’s 16 hours of unduplicated programming each day.
Much thought, and great care, was taken in producing this new schedule
which was primarily based on feedback from subscribers to The Magazine.
You want more shows from around the country, on a variety of subjects, and
to repeat less. The main challenge was to allow for this expansion (there are
still only 24-hours in a day) with the least amount of disruption to our long-
standing, most popular shows. To accomplish this, we took the following
approach:
1. Each show has four (4) airings each week – a daytime, an evening, a
next day, and another weekend airing for every existing program. This
should give every viewer, no matter what time zone they are in, at least
two very convenient times to watch any of their favorite shows.
2. Horses on RFD-TV was moved up two hours for its weekday,
daytime airing (from 4pm-6pm, eastern, to 2pm-4pm) to make room
for the 2 hours of new programming, while keeping the prime time
airings the same for these popular equine shows.
3. Prime time (6pm-12am, eastern) each weekday night remains the same
for all programs, and is not then effected by these changes, to
inconvenience the fewest amount of viewers. It’s the repeat times, the
next day, that are most affected. The shows are still there, but just
airing at different times during that next morning and early afternoon.
Weekend repeat times are the same, in most cases.
